May 21st, 2015 was opening day for the St. Paul Saints, taking on the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks in the fabulous new CHS Field in Lowertown (the Saints won, by the way, 8-7), and thus Rhythm of the Saints was launched. Yes, Fun is Good, as The Saints’ saying goes, and there was much excitement and fun as the kids hammered out some bucket beats along with angelic vocals courtesy of J.D. Steele’s choir group, the MacPhail Community Youth Choir.
June 10th had the Saints hosting a couple of baseball teams from Japan, and Rhythm of the Saints was there, honoring the teams with some Taiko-style drumming.
We hope to keep adding kids to the roster and building up Rhythm of the Saints with more tryouts at the Saints stadium, and we believe that word-of-mouth will spread about this fantastic program. The kids will learn not only how to drum, dance and sing; it will give them confidence and teach them team-building skills. They might have a little fun in the process, as well.
If you know someone aged 12-18 who would like to try out for the group, please contact M2.
